Someone said that 'Necessity is the mother of all inventions' . Most of us believe in this very simple statement. Fire was born off necessity and so was the number 0 and also electric power possibly the 3 greatest inventions in history.
So cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and all "nasha" inducers were invented out to satisfy some need were not they?? But modern society has depicted these in bad light. It is not good for health that is guaranteed but then so is butter, oil ..you know the stuff that get our taste buds tingling. But for some reason smoke and drinks are targetted by many especially the activists.
People may say that you can get hooked on to it and it is very difficult too stop once you've begun but then it is the same with fatty food as well if obesity in US and now increasingly in India as well is anything to go by. Why not contemplate ban on fatty food as well along with cigarettes and alcohol.
In moderation they can provide for stress relief and so i tell my friends smoke and booze responsibly and preferably not close to me cause passive smoking is worse than active and boozers are a little unpredictable. And guilt has no place along with pleasure :)

The Man from Earth
What would it be like to never die?? Many of us have wondered about it. A movie almost gone unnoticed by the masses is 'The Man From Earth' which is easily one of the most interesting movies ever that i have come across. Directed by Richard Schenkman this wonderfully thought out movie tells us about a man who has lived for 140 centuries ,a freak of nature, and his retelling of his journey . The best feature of this movie is the human-ness of the immortal, for he remembers as we do, does not have super intelligence but is one of us only a little older ;)...Watch it..it will be woth your while.............

Why we don't need Religion
As the modern man started settling down and cultivating the seeds of civilization and society he began to ponder on his place in the world and the universe. It must have seemed impossible for him to believe that all this around him and now us could be a mere co-incidence. That there must be some higher purpose to their being. From this bloomed the greatest tragedy of humankind----RELIGION.
In the early days of humanity religion filled the void that amn could not explain. Why the sun rose ??Why it rains??? Why the earthquakes??? Why the volcanic eruptions??? Who created the universe , earth, the plants and animals and more importantly Us??? Religion answered all of it. With no means of knowing the truth behind all this religion came like a bright light cutting through the darkness of night.
But along with religion came superstition, pre-judices off which religion seemed to find its drive. The early forms of religion allowed for original thinking and pursuit of truth none more so than Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. But with age instead of maturing further it became a child like the other major religions Christianity and Islam. Fluidity gave way to rigidity and questioning nature to orthodoxy drowning the world into the depths of darkness.Science and its priests,the harbringer of prosperity and a genuine happiness, has been ruthlessly persecuted..religion and its intolerance has affected the psyche of mankind in the worst possible way.
But now with science fighting back and providing us more and more insight into the working of our world and disproving all of the religious myths ...its time we parted with the old ways...religion has become obsolete..it served its purpose & it makes business sense..once a product has served its purpose and is no more effective and competent it has to be discarded.....Evolution is in the nature of things and its time we let religion evolve as well....and that evolution is Science.......

Disappointment
2010 coming to an end and all i take with me as an indian is disappointment. To say that I am proud to be an indian anymore would be a bit of a stretch. I still love the country but no more do i hold pride on my country. You may assume that it is because of all the scams (Adarsh, 2G, Land grab, Radia tapes) but well that just makes up for a part of my disappointment. Nor is the deadlock in Lok Sabha a major reason for my disappointment and to a certain extent shame. If you think its because the Congress led UPA is shamefully trying to protect its cadre or BJP led NDA thats doing it, then thats not it nor is the obvious corruption in our premier investigative agency CBI or even the corporate world. The religio-lingo-political situation in Kashmir, Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka has not much of a bearing in the sense of futility i feel as well.
Its just very simply and obviously ,if you understand the whole concept of a democratic society, none other than YOU. Whoever said society is reflection of the people got it right on the accelerator. For the rotten society we live in is all because of the rotten people in the society. And no one not even I am an exception. Each one of us is non arguably the most sick and disgusting creature in the animal kingdom.
Politicians are nothing but elected representives. Guess who elects them?? Oh come on it can't be that difficult. All of you who have had access to a decent education know about Adult Franchise even though quite a few of you would not have made use of it. For those who don't know then Adult Franchise gives all over 18 Yrs to vote for their preferred leader and take part in the drama that is democracy. But who are the people who actually do vote ? The uneducated poor who easily led by religion, language, caste, community votes for a worthless scumbag who they think will help in their development but ends up ensuring his/her own and maybe his/her families coffers are not just full but bulging like a
But well politicians are expected to be corrupt now-a-days. But is the common man's corruption which has let me down completely. Driver's license, passport, gas connection, telephone connection anything and everything to occur in a timely manner needs lets say "extra incentive". Not just requested or guardedly asked for but demanded and almost with no hesistation paid by us the common men and women, no gender biases in this land of gender discrimination. Where we can we cheat the others, even the meanest and poorest of all not let off. Stealing the single meagrest of meals from the plates of the poor also doesn't seem to affect our emotions and empathy , the most important of the human traits that supposedly differentiates us from the rest of the animals, so then why look at all the scam news and make comments like "how shameless are these politicians" or "oh these politicians are destroying our country". If you want to be ashamed of someone be off yourself not others. Because you are shameful and nothing else...the lowest of all creatures.
Sad thing is we were a great civilization..destined to do great things ....show the world what a civilized society actually meant but have ended up creating an example of the ' anti society '. Though this isn't the saddest thingof all.....the saddest thing is that in a few years, unless thrs some miracle, I will be you and there is very little I can do about it..............

(A)theism
Not many in number but large in terms of vocalness. Atheism, is a new lets say movement which "believes" that there is no god(s). That the world is governed only by the 'assumed' physical laws and not by some supernatural beings.
They have a lot going for them for no one on this world atleast can claim to have proof of the god(s). We dont have any proof that god(s) exist which is enough fodder for the atheists to disprove our beliefs and expect us to follow theirs. But then doesnt faith mean believing with or without proof. I know most atheists if not all will tell me thats where i go wrong. But lets prove that atheism is nothing more than a belief system devoid of proof as well.
In the late 19th century came out a book that revolutionized the way we percieved ourselves human beings as a part of the cosmos. From something special we became something that matters very little to the universe, I mean 'The Origin of Species'. It told us that we like all creatures on earth evolved from an ancestoral species and that all life on earth had in fact evolved from something that lived before. But at that time there was no proof for it except for 2 fossilized skulls. No one could prove that Darwins theory was true or not. But the intellectual and scientific community believed it with no proof at all. Yet now we know that that is how modern humans along with all the present day livig creatures came to being. We descended from ape like creatures just like the other primates of our times. We do have proof for this NOW but back then there existed no proof at all. I bring this for it is the biggest ammunition that the atheists use to disprove our faiths.
They conveniently forget that there own scientific theories are just tht ...theories. They involve assumptions of ideal conditions and at most the actual results would be at about 65-70% of theoretical ones.
As an engineering student of one of India's premier university VTU i can tell you that all of science as we know it are based on assumptions. The only true results obtained are from practical science which tells us that sun is nothing more than a star among billions.
The famous atheist Richard Dawkins to disprove the "myth" of god(s) asked us to disprove the existence of a miniscule teapot between earth and the sun. But considering that our telescopes are powerful enough to detects star systems much farther it is very easily proven that there is no teapot there but then god(s) exist in a completely different loka than ours so no telescope will be able to see them.
The atheist have as much proof to disprove god(s) as they have to prove ts existence . The beginning...dark matter.....alien life....life development....so many mysteries in the world that they have no answer for yet BELIEVE that they know for sure that the god(s) dont exist.
In the end atheism is not much more than a faith and all of us should treat t like another belief system until they can prove otherwise!!!!!!
